Sarah Geenberg is the owner of Wimberley Chayon Ryu. She used to own Enjoy Your Landscape, and quit that in order to start writing the front end and back end code for websites.
Sarah grew up in Austin and attended the Science Academy at LBJ, now called LASA. She participated in many clubs, played soccer and golf, and practiced karate. The Science Academy is an advanced school, and Sarah had the opportunity to pick which college she wanted to attend. All the ones she applied to offered her scholarships. Her heart went to Southwestern University in Georgetown.
Sarah graduated from Southwestern University in 2000 with a double major in math and psychology. Her senior project was given high honors, and she was asked to present it at many academic conferences, both regionally and nationally. She played both varsity soccer and golf, and though that was able to travel all over the United States.
Today, Sarah still pursues a variety of interests. She plays soccer, rides horses, and is a writer. She also enjoys playing the piano, which is something that she started at age two.
Karate is important to Sarah for both physical and mental reasons. She loves to exercise and challenge herself. It is great to learn techniques that can protect her as well as others. But the mental aspect that the Chayon Ryu system teaches is why she is still interested in karate. She knows that as a kid, karate gave her in the confidence she needed to pursue her goals. And she wants to give that to others.
Sarah regularly trains and assists at Austin Chayon Ryu under one of the highest-ranking women in the world, Master Kim Geary. She also receives regular training from Grandmaster Kim Soo himself.
